Job Description
The School of Social Work at St. Ambrose University invites applications for a Director of Field Education with clinical faculty status in Social Work, beginning July 1, 2018. This faculty member provides leadership for the Field Education component of the MSW Program and the newly developing BSW program as well as the continuing education initiatives in the School of Social Work.  These programs are described on the website at www.sau.edu/msw.  This director provides overall direction and management of all aspects of field education including:  securing and approving agency field sites and supervisors; placement of students in agencies; planning and collaboration with faculty and the field advisory board in the delivery of the student practicum; and the preparation of field manuals, orientations, seminars, and evaluation tools for field instructors and students.  The Director of Field Education represents the School in the community and develops and maintains relationships with field placement agencies. Administrative duties comprise approximately 50% of this position.  Faculty responsibilities include student advising, service, scholarship, and ability to teach within areas of expertise in the Social Work curriculum. The position requires a MSW from a CSWE-accredited program, and two years post-MSW practice experience.  Those with experience managing field placements and supervising students are especially encouraged to apply.   Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience.  St. Ambrose is an independent, Catholic diocesan university located in Davenport, Iowa which is a mid-sized urban area on the Mississippi River with nearly 3200 undergraduate and graduate students.
