Job Description
The Data Analyst provides data management services for research projects conducted through the Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research (PCCR).
 
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
 
  • Responsible to the Data Core Manager of the Office of Data Management & Biostatistics.
 
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
The Data Analyst is responsible for the application ownership and configuration of designated data management systems including but not limited to REDCap, while ensuring compliance with governing internal and external rules and regulations.  The Data Analyst also: 
 
  • Serves as an application owner for the data management system REDCap at PCCR, ensuring compliance with HIPPAA rules;
 
  • Assists with timely deployment and support of REDCap system configurations, design, migration, tests, as well as development and production plans;
 
  • Develops, refines and maintains documentation of REDCap applications, data management protocols and audit trails for assigned research projects;
 
  • Develops and prepares data collection forms in REDCap as defined by study protocols;
 
  • Provides user support in accordance with the PCCR REDCap environment and governance as established by clinical research leadership, information technology support personnel, REDCap end users, data security, and other groups;
 
  • Serves as a PCCR contributor and participant in REDCap Consortium and regularly learns and applies best practices based on distributed administrator community;
 
  • Assists in developing computerized methods for monitoring, tracking and reporting on research studies;
  • Prepares clinical study progress reports;
  • Transfers data across different mediums and formats;
  • Monitors and manages assigned research projects using MS product tools;
  • Assists in user training and support services, as requested;
 
  • Assists with the implementation of goals and plans of actions consistent with the College’s objectives;
 
  • Adheres to all federal and state compliance for data management and reporting;
 
  • Adheres to all confidentiality and security standards for research projects;

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
 
  • Ability to:
    • Manage multiple activities in a deadline-oriented environment, highly organized, flexible and rigorous attention to detail;
    • Perform assigned duties with time pressures and frequent interruptions;
    • Use logic to efficiently construct a database;
    • Produce data in a clear and understandable manner, meeting user requirements;

    • Work various hours as job requires;
    • Utilize personal computer, various software packages (software MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat), general office equipment and other necessary equipment.
  • Knowledge of relational database management systems such as REDCap, MySQL, MS-SQL.
 
  • Organized, detail oriented; Able to prioritize time sensitive assignments.
 
  • Creative, flexible and adaptable to change.
 
  • Self-starter; independent decision maker.
 
  • Demonstrated oral, presentation, written and computer communication skills.
 
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn other software or data management programs, as necessary.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 
Required: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, management information systems, computer science, clinical research or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
 
2 years related experience in data quality and quality assurance practices in a clinical research, data management or clinical trial environment. REDCap experience preferred.
 
Knowledge of clinical data models, data standards and best practice methods for constructing data collection preferred.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
 
  • Performs sedentary to light work in a ventilated, lighted, and temperature-controlled office setting.
 
  • Frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift light objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the workday.
