Augustana College Office of Student Inclusion & Diversity in partnership with Office of Alumni Relations, Office of Student Life & Leadership, Multicultural Programming Board, & Office of International Student & Scholar Services is hosting a campus-wide & community event celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. National Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15 to October 15 & traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries. During this month and throughout the year, Augustana College Office of Student Inclusion & Diversity and our partners, share the history, heritage, and accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino Americans of past and present.
The event, Dia De La Raza, is on Wednesday, September 15th from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Viking Plaza with parking available at Centennial Hall Auditorium. The first 100 guests will receive free tacos, chips & salsa, horchata, & Mexican paletas from Coya's Cafe. Grupo Realidad will entertain the crowd with live music. A special performance by the Quad Cities Ballet Folklorico. In addition, we will have activity tables to play Lotería, Pirinola Toma, Dominoes, & craft lanterns symbolizing the original freedom torch. All are welcome to come celebrate! This will be a free event. Open for all in the Quad Cities community to attend. Please help us spread the word.
