Join us for the first ever ELLA Empower Hour with Michelle Herrera Mulligan!  Michelle Herrera Mulligan was the founding editor in chief of Cosmo for Latinas, a women’s lifestyle publication targeted at English-speaking Latina women, reaching more than two million readers every month.

As the Special Projects Director for Hearst Digital Media, Herrera Mulligan creates viral feature articles for more than 20 digital brands: from Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Good Housekeeping, Marie Claire, Elle, to Redbook. Prior to Cosmo for Latinas, Herrera Mulligan served as managing editor of LasFabulosas.com, a syndicated website which celebrates Latina success. She has also held editorial positions at publications such as Latina magazine and House & Garden magazine.

A prolific author and journalist for over 10 years, Herrera Mulligan has worked to capture the surging Latina voice in the United States.  Her essays and reporting have appeared in the New York Times, Time, as well as the award-winning anthology Count on Me: Tales of Sisterhoods and Fierce Friendships and Border-Line Personalities:  A New Generation of Latinas Dish on Sex, Sass, and Cultural Shifting, a collection she co-edited. The book was course-adopted at universities throughout the country and won an Outstanding Contribution to Hispanic Studies Award in 2006.

An in-demand speaker, storyteller and influencer, Herrera Mulligan has spoken at universities including Yale and Barnard College, where she recently performed a Tedx Talk called “Dream Wild.”  Her ultimate goal is to bring more young Latinas to the forefront of corporate success, with stronger representation in the mainstream media.
