Read, Renew, Repeat iREAD Summer Reading
Kick off Summer with the Rock Island Public Library and the Quad City Botancial Center at a free event for all ages, that's open to all! The all-ages Read, Renew, Repeat Summer Kickoff isThursday, May 30, from 4 pm to 6:30 pm at the Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 4th Avenue, Rock Island. Guests can sign up for the library's all-ages summer reading program, play yard games, and visit up to 15 hands-on activity stations from area organizations. Water stations will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle. Ice cream treats will also be available while they last, courtesy of a donation from Gas & Electric Credit Union (G&ECU.) The Rock Island Library2Go bookmobile will be at the event, and families can play in the Children's Garden and visit the new Storybook Landscapes exhibit. Additional activity station partners include Artsy Bookworm/Planting Books, Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois, Habitat Restore, MetroLINK, Midwest Writing Center, QC Canine Assistance Network, QC Wild Ones, Rock Island Corps of Engineers, Rock Island County Soil and Water Conservation District, Rock Island Fire Department, Rock Island Parks and Recreation, Spring Forward Learning Center, Waste Commission of Scott County, and WQPT PBS TV. In the event of rain, most activities move inside the Botanical Center.
