WOCN & ELLAS Networking Mixer

Connect with ELLAS and its membership while having the opportunity to attend together a lecture by Diane Guerreo who is being hosted by the University of Iowa Lecture Committee.

ELLAS is from the Quad Cities and a program initiative from The Greater Quad-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and this would be a great opportunity for students, faculty/staff from the WOCN to connect from other women involved in the community of Eastern Iowa!

Diane Guerrero will speak in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge on Tuesday, April 30th at 7:30pm. This lecture is free and open to the public.

Doors open for students at 6:30pm. Doors open for the general public at 7:00pm.

Guerrero is a nationally acclaimed actress and author well-known for her roles in the popular television shows Jane the Virgin and Orange is the New Black. In 2016, she wrote a powerful book titled "In the Country We Love" and last year published a book titled "My Family Divided: One Girl?s Journey of Home, Loss, and Home". In 2015, she was named a White House Ambassador for Citizenship and Naturalization. She is an outspoken advocate for comprehensive immigration reform and has worked with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center and Mi Familia Vota, a nonpartisan Latinx civic engagement organization to promote citizenship and voter registration. Guerrero speaks around the country discussing her experience and urging for immigration reform.
