Airfield Maintenance Worker
About The Role:
The Quad City International Airport is looking for an eager applicant for the Airfield Maintenance Worker position. Under the direction of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor, the Airfield Maintenance Worker performs preventive maintenance, maintenance, repair and upkeep of airport facilities. Fulltime, union eligible, $26.54/hr

Key Requirements:
- Ability to pass a post-employment offer physical examination and drug screen.
- Ability to pass a background investigation to obtain unescorted Airport Identification/Access privileges.
- Ability to operate a vehicle and possession of a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, and
- Requires one to five years of grounds and facility maintenance experience which includes the operation of motorized horticultural and/or complex heavy equipment; or
- any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is beneficial.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations and other federal, state and local regulations that affect maintenance and operations of an airport.
- Ability to operate complex and motorized equipment.
- Ability to maintain and make minor repairs to light and medium equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written communications to effectively communicate with tenants and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to use handheld and ground radios to effectively communicate and report physical location at all times when inside restricted areas of airport grounds.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed while working with incoming and outgoing air traffic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains the physical grounds of the facility to include the following activities: cuts grass, trims trees and shrubs, tends and plants flower beds, sprays fertilizers and insecticides as needed, removes trash from lawns and parking lots, etc.
- Operates complex equipment in the removal of snow and ice from runways, taxiways, ramps, airfield entrances and parking lots.
- Operates various construction and motorized equipment with attachments to mow, grade, excavate, etc.
- Paints runways and taxiway markings, and repairs pavement and asphalt.
- Repairs and renovates airfield projects, including electrical, mechanical, painting, woodworking, T-hangars and plumbing.
- Performs daily adjustments and/or calibrations and preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Monitors the airport grounds for hazards and monitors for security with regard to FAA guidelines.
- Performs daily/periodic airfield inspections to ensure compliance with the Airport Certification Manual.
- Trains and instructs Maintenance Helpers.
- Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations and maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
