Description
Works with children and/or adults in a recreational setting. Under the guidance of a Site Manager or above, an Activity Leader will be directly responsible for leading a group of participants in an activity and assist with whole group activities. Programs typically include large morning, afternoon, or all-day outdoor summer camps, but may also include indoor or outdoor camps, clinics, leagues, and various special events throughout the year.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Helps plan and plays an active part in the daily schedule of activities and weekly themes.
2. Guides kids in participating successfully in all aspects of program activities.
3. Gets involved by engaging in play, teaching the basics of a sport, being creative and fun, and leading by example.
4. Prepares campsite before campers arrive and stays after camp for cleanup.
5. Greets and checks-in all campers daily.
6. Checks camp rosters for authorized pickups, allergies, parent notes, etc.
7. Attends to basic camper needs such as sunscreen, first aid treatment, and bathroom breaks.
8. Follows all employee and program rules, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
9. Maintains a positive attitude while serving as a good role model to kids through personal language, appearance, punctuality, health habits, sharing in cleanup, and sportsmanship.
10. Encourages respect for personal property, program equipment, and facilities.
11. Maintains good public relations with staff, participants, parents/guardians, and spectators.
12. Other duties may be assigned as required

Requirements
Education
College or High School, must be at least 14 years of age.
Experience
Previous experience working with children is preferred but not necessary.
Interpersonal Skills
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with participants, parents, and staff. Ability to accept supervision and guidance and to relate to one's peer group. Needs to be enthusiastic, have a sense of humor, patience, and self-control. Also important are good character, integrity, and adaptability. The desire to affect the lives of participants in a positive and rewarding way. Requires the analytical ability to carry out activities suitable for the age groups. Must be able to follow established rules and procedures.
Working Conditions
Must be able to work outside in sometimes hot/humid or cold and rainy conditions. Job Requirements Desire and ability to work with children and/or adults indoors OR outdoors, ability to assist in teaching an activity, current Red Cross CPR and First Aid Card (training will be offered), and must have transportation to and from program site or facility.
