Position Description – Director of Resource Development
Primary Function: The Director of Resource Development will be responsible for enhancing current donor relationships as well as cultivating new donor/sponsor relationships to generate fundraising income from corporate and individual sources. The Director is responsible for increasing awareness to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley. This will be accomplished primarily through personal communication as well as through the use of multiple media options, marketing, and events throughout the community.
Responsibilities:
1) Lead the development of funding plans and strategy to engage corporate and individual stakeholders on a year-round basis, and to secure additional financial support for the organization.
2) Steward relationships with current corporate and foundation donors, while identifying and establishing ties to new prospects
3) Maintain regular communication and conduct face-to-face visits with corporate partners.
4) Facilitate and lead Club tours with partners and prospects to further demonstrate organizational impact.
5) Manage, facilitate, and supervise activities related to prospecting, reporting and stewardship.
6) Perform prospect research to identify new prospective donors.
7) Research, develop and maintain all aspects of relationships with donors, including accurate and up to date database management, recognition materials, stewardship mechanisms and oral and written communication.
8) Understand how to store, manipulate, and retrieve data from donor database. Generate contribution reports, reminders and various ad hoc reports as needed by the Resource Development and Finance teams.
9) Coordinate with the Marketing & Communications team to create marketing materials for events, programs and general BGCMV activities for the organization.
10) Develop and distribute annual campaign and special campaign materials as well as a timetable for the campaign.
11) Coordinate with Marketing & Communications team and Resource Development/Marketing Committee to increase donor growth and community awareness.
12) Provide feedback and reports to Chief Executive Officer and Resource Development/Marketing Committee on individual and corporate stakeholders.
13) Work cooperatively and professionally with administrative colleagues to accomplish tasks which promote the organization mission and a fun working environment.
14) Increase Endowment Fund contributions.
15) Attend community events which build relationships and raise awareness of BGCMV and allow opportunity to attract new donors.
16) Attend all Resource Development/ Marketing Committee Meetings to support Board Members and community participants.
17) Proven ability and willingness to solicit major and planned gifts and sponsorships.
18) Coordinate with Marketing & Communications team and Chief Executive Officer to complete the Annual Report.
19) Coordinate with the Executive Director to complete annual mailings (Birdies, End of Year).
20) Maintain ethical standards established for fundraising professionals.
21) Maintain confidentiality of donor information.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Must Possess:
1) A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
2) A valid driver’s license and use of a dependable, insured vehicle.
3) Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage projects, prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and perform independently to achieve goals.
4) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with CEO, Club employees, board members, volunteers, community groups and related agencies.
5) Ability to build and maintain productive business relationships with a diverse constituency.

7) Ability and willingness to solicit major and planned gifts and sponsorships from individuals, businesses and foundations.
8) Attention to detail and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
9) Computer skills required to manage development operations, knowledge of donor databases and willingness to learn organizational data collection systems.
Also required:
1) The flexibility to attend and participate in organizational and community events throughout day and week as requested.
2) Must pass a criminal background check, a motor vehicle check and credit report.
