Career and Marketing Coordinator

St. Ambrose University is dedicated to empowering students to achieve their career goals. We are looking for a motivated and organized Career Development and Marketing Coordinator to join our team.

The Career Development and Marketing Coordinator will play a key role in connecting students with employment opportunities on campus while enhancing our marketing efforts to promote Academic and Career Planning center services. This position will work collaboratively with university faculty and staff to create, maintain and share information to encourage student career readiness. This person will oversee SAU student employment and lead training for students and supervisors. Presentations and individual meetings will be part of the day-to-day work environment. The coordinator will also lead all Academic and Career Planning (ACP) office-related marketing needs.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee the student employment program: contract processing, supervisor training, student on-boarding, email communications, and update and create materials, such as the New-Hire Packet.
  • Collaborate with human resources, financial aid, and general accounting to ensure student employment eligibility and budgets remain compliant with federal, state and institutional regulations.
  • Coordinate ACP office-related marketing needs (i.e. social media posts, website updates, internal university notices, hand-outs, career fair signage).
  • Provide career development information through presentations, workshops, and individual meetings.
  • Encourage student career development and exploration through meetings and various programs and assessments, such as: O*NET, YouScience and Handshake.
  • Provide holistic advising for undecided undergraduate students.
  • Assist with ACP events and career development needs, such as: Career Fairs, tabling events, mock interviews, job and internship searches and building and reviewing cover letters and resumes.
  • Coordinate with ACP staff and university faculty / staff to build and foster the connection of student academic and employment experiences to career readiness and obtaining a successful and fulfilling career.
  • Hire, train and supervise ACP student employees.
  • Maintain student employment, including graduate assistantship job postings in Handshake.
  • Lead and facilitate the Student Employment Committee to streamline and strengthen policies, procedures, and the overall student employment experience.

Qualifications:

  • An earned bachelor's degree, master's degree in higher education or student personnel is preferred.
  • Two or more years' experience in higher education, workforce development, student services, human resources or related field.
  • Innovative, forward-thinking, organized and detail oriented.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and the ability to take initiative.
  • Strong written and verbal communicator.
  • Passion for creating and fostering opportunities for student development and growth.
