Job Description
This person will teach Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and short term health-related courses, which could include CNA clinical learning experiences, EMT/Paramedic, BLS, and Phlebotomy. Will assist with and coordinate skills testing and assist with and oversee CNA, and other health-related course files and assure their compliance with the Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) and other regulatory or accrediting bodies.
Fall/Spring/Summer Class Schedule:
Monday: 4:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Tuesday: 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Wednesday: 4:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Thursday: 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM
All hours outside of assigned class schedule (18/40 hours), flexible. EICC offers flexible work hours to help you manage your work-life balance. However, please note that when specific reporting times or assignments are given, your presence will be required.

Required Qualifications
• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing with licensure as a registered nurse in Iowa or a compact state or the ability to obtain one.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing, or enrollment in a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
• Minimum two years total of full-time clinical nursing experience.
• Minimum of 1 year in long term care nursing preferred.
• Clinical nursing experience in emergency care or with EMS preferred.
• CNA instructor status or ability to obtain CNA instructor status.
• Certified BLS/ACLS instructor or ability to obtain at a minimum BLS instructor status.
• Certified in phlebotomy through NCCT or ability to obtain certification preferred.
• Completion of an Expanded Intravenous Therapy Course preferred.
• Experience working in education preferred.
• Must relate well to people and display a high degree of competency within the field.
• Must be capable of creating a classroom environment which is conducive to student learning.
• Must demonstrate strong organizational and record keeping skills.

Physical Demands
• This job operates in a professional office environment.
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
• This would require the ability to lift roughly 50 lbs, textbooks, and student work, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
• Prolonged periods walking, standing and/or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Requires the ability to sit or stand in a classroom during extended instructional periods.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
• Teach Nurse Aide and other health related courses in accordance with objectives of the course outlines as set forth by the department and in compliance with the requirements of the DIA and other regulatory or accrediting bodies.
• In conjunction with the CNA Program Manager and other continuing education health Program Managers, maintain course and testing records for all related courses and students.
• Assist with preparation for, and host DIA or other related accrediting body evaluators, providing necessary documentation and resources maintain program compliance.
• Ensure and maintain documentation that students in the course meet all required course prerequisites, which may include physical examinations, immunization records, and/or background checks.
• Develop and maintain current course syllabi/outlines for assigned courses as needed.
• In conjunction with the CNA Program Manager and other continuing education health Program Managers, research and develop, or update, curriculum for short-term certificates as needed.
• Teach using a variety of instructional methods and technologies that facilitates learning for all students.
• Organize and present various concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities, and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
• Inject relevant personal occupational experience into the instructional setting to assist in the preparation of each student for subsequent successful entry into employment.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with professional personnel, local organizations, public officials and other interested people.
• Assist in maintaining public relations with the local community and take part in community relations when possible.
• Organize, assign and teach CNA clinical experiences for student learning at local long term care facilities.
• Assist in program promotion and recruitment of students, provide academic advising as needed, and assist in the placement and follow up of students.
• Be knowledgeable of and comply with state guidelines and regulations pertaining to the operation of the Nurse Aide and other related health programs.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled staff meetings unless excused.
• Attend state sponsored Nurse Aide or other related health program meetings as needed.
• Keep accurate inventories of equipment and supplies and submit requisitions for needed materials.
• Promptly report repairs needed for the lab, classroom and equipment.
• Stay up to date with trends in the field and update program curriculum and equipment as appropriate.
• Met all assigned classes and office commitments as scheduled.
• Serve actively on any committee to which appointed.
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
• Maintain professional appearance of office and laboratory areas.
• Must be willing to flex schedule, location, and modality when necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
