Director of Clubs & Programming
Primary Function
Directs/manages daily Club operations and programs in all club sites with primary concern for program development and implementation, data management, hiring, training, development, and supervision of Club Professionals as well as the coordination of partner programs and volunteer groups.
Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Guide Club Directors and Youth Development Professionals to ensure programs, services and activities prepare youth for success through BGCA’s Five Core Target Areas and ensure safety of members.
- Provide oversight and enforce quality programming and create a trauma informed Club environment.
- Provide oversight and enforce the Club’s Average Daily Attendance based on YDP/member ratio at individual Club sites.
- Hire and train Club Directors and develop a plan to ensure high quality Club Director development.
- Screen potential YDP’s for Club Directors and process hiring paperwork for all club professionals.
- Develop a plan which will provide leadership, training, and development opportunities to Club Directors and YDP’s which comply with state and federal requirements as the organization evolves.
- Ensure quality improvement by monitoring and evaluating program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interests.
- Provide oversight and enforce quarterly parent/caregiver surveys; the NYOI as required by BGCA. Develop a process to Identify and document areas of improvement and demonstrate improvement every quarter.

- Continue to learn about and demonstrate skills in the use of evolving and emerging technology used by youth.
- Ensure all sites comply with organization and grant requirements.
- Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations.
- Ensure productive work environments by maintaining an inventory of all program equipment and supplies in good working order while working within the program budget.
- Ensure each Club site has an orientation and onboarding process for employees and orientation process for families and members.
- Ensure implementation of safety and organizational policies and procedures within the Club sites.
- Participate in activities and events to maintain good public relations for Club programs, services, and donor relationships.
- Serve as the BGCMV Liaison on Program/Safety Committee and collaborate with members to ensure the committee is following the organizational strategic plan.
- Represent the organization and its mission, vison, and core values as a not-for-profit organization throughout the community.
- Ensure a productive work environment by organizing and facilitating monthly staff meetings, support staff by dealing with member issues, and bridging the communication between the organization and Club Professionals.
- Attend staff meetings and training courses as scheduled and if mandatory.
- Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance, participation, and other necessary information for grants.
- Responsible for implementation of all grant/funding requirements and required certifications.
- Provide oversight and enforce recruitment, retention, and engagement of Club members.
- Work collaboratively with Club Professionals to manage and improve member behavior, through a DEI lens and by ensuring an environment of safety, acceptance, and empowerment.
- Ensure Club Professionals adhere to DEI strategies and recommendations.
- Ensure the organization is adhering to the recommendations of the annual safety assessment conducted by BGCA or its designee.
- Provide Club coverage for Club Directors and Youth Development Professionals when necessary.
Relationships
- Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club Professionals and volunteers, Club members, and supervisors to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
- External: Create and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, members’ parents/guardians, and others to assist in resolving problems, provide necessary support and provide experiences for Club members.
Additional Responsibilities
- Data Entry
- Participate in special programs and/or events.
- Attend board and community meetings when required.
- Must be a van driver.
- Maintain cleanliness of facility by checking areas after use and require members and staff to clean areas after use.
- Collaborate with Club Professionals and facilities manager to ensure the building follows all necessary certifications.
Skills/Knowledge Required
- 4-year degree from an accredited college or university and/or equivalent experience in working with children and knowledge of youth development.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programming for youth.
- Ability to motivate and manage staff.
- Ability to organize and supervise Club members in a safe environment.
- Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record.
Specific Competencies
- Must have a high, positive energy level to encourage and engage youth in activities, maintain constant flow of activities, and support staff in programming needs. Must provide observation, coaching and role model to program staff.
- Must have good planning and organizational skills and be meticulous.
- Ability to interact with the members, staff, and public in a friendly, professional manner.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Must have effective communication skills.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Ability to perform broad ranging physical responsibilities in a fast-paced, multi-faceted setting.
- Ability to utilize and generate a wide variety of written, digital technical, verbal, and multi-media information for Club program purposes.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
