Job Description:


APPOINTMENT: December 2023

RESPONSIBILITIES: The head football coach is responsible for all aspects in leading a competitive NCAA Division I FCS football program to include, but not limited to: coaching (practice and in-game), recruiting, fundraising, student-athlete development, and hiring and managing staff. The successful candidate must be fully committed to all NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference, and Western Illinois University policies and procedures, and will be expected to work cooperatively with all constituencies and campus units.

Requirements:


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Minimum seven (7) years coaching experience with a proven record of competitive success.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit academically and athletically prepared intercollegiate student-athletes.
• Proven record of successful leadership and management of the multiple responsibilities associated with a competitive football program, e.g. supervision of staff, budgeting, recruiting, student-athlete development.
• Ability to establish and foster positive working relationships with student-athletes, coaching staffs, administration, university personnel, alumni, and community.
• Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of and proven adherence to all NCAA academic and compliance rules and regulations.
• Valid driver's license.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's Degree.
• Demonstrated competitive success as a head football coach at the NCAA DI or DII level.
• Head coaching experience.


For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). The degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.

Student Resources

More than 200 student organizations at Western provide social, academic, recreation, athletics, service, academic, and many other opportunities for students to grow and learn, develop leadership skills, and much more. The University's athletics program, based on the Macomb campus, sponsors 17 NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's and women's varsity sports. Football competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision through the Missouri Valley Football Conference; all other varsity sports compete at the Division I level through The Summit League
