APPOINTMENT: This is a 12-month appointment with an expected start date of June 1, 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Vice President for Student Success, the Director of the University Counseling Center has the primary responsibility for the delivery of counseling services, assessment services, consultation, training, public relations, and outreach activities to Western Illinois University students, and additional responsibilities include:
• The professional development, training, and assignment of duties to personnel employed in the University Counseling Center (UCC)
• Providing consultation and administrative supervision for UCC staff
• Providing staff clinical supervision and/or supervision to an appointed clinical supervisor, practicum/intern supervisor, and Graduate Assistant supervisor to assure the ethical delivery of all counseling services in accordance with federal and state laws, guidelines and professional ethical codes
• Providing primary responsibility for the provision of consultation services for students, family members, and/or any member of the WIU community faced with a mental health issue or general concern
• Providing direct counseling services and/or assessment services to students/clients, as schedule permits
• Providing primary responsibility in assuring that all approved UCC policies, procedures, ethical codes, and state and national guidelines are observed and followed
• Providing primary responsibility for the management of the budget, accurate and timely accounting practices for the various accounts, and the approval of all expenditures for the UCC.
• The evaluation of all employees in the UCC
• The continued evaluation and development of all services provided by the UCC.
• To serve as a member of the student behavioral intervention team known as the Emergency Consultation Team (ECT). The director is expected to be in the rotation for the after-hours, on-call consultation service and to attend weekly ECT meetings.
• To serve as a member of the Threat Assessment Team (TAT) and carry out the duties of a TAT member
• To maintain and foster professional relationships with university and community entities to assure collaboration and the seamless delivery of services
• To participate in departmental and university-wide committees
• To be responsible for the production of the annual report and strategic plan
SALARY: $69,403 - $78,000, commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A master's or doctoral degree in mental health counseling, psychology, or social work from an accredited program.
• At least three years of recent clinical experience.
• Experience providing supervision, as well as mental health counseling services to traditional age college students.
• Current clinical license in any state, and be able to obtain an Illinois clinical license within the first year of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Five or more years of clinical experience in a university counseling center.
• Strong administrative, clinical, and assessment expertise with experience providing individual, couple, and group mental health counseling services within a college setting.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, budgetary, public relations, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with and provide leadership for a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated ability to use data to make informed decisions.
• A clear understanding of developmental issues facing college students and have experience meeting the needs of clients from diverse populations.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Experience administering a full battery of psychological and learning assessments.
• Knowledge of electronic records and data management programs, specifically Titanium Schedule, is highly desirable.
For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
